||jxi|| Here because of the Fire in the Mountains set on YouTube. God I wish I was there, that stuff is perfection Favorite track: Waxen Voices.

Jarod Newman A worthy follow up to "The Light That Dwells in Rotten Wood". Though this album has a much different atmosphere. Favorite track: Waxen Voices.

pfk505 When this album was first released I definitely enjoyed it, but over time it has become ever more special to me. It has an inexhaustible appeal, with equal moments of sadness, beauty, and aggression, and I return to it again and again. Seeing most of these songs played live was among the greatest musical experiences I've had. I love this band, and this is their best album. Favorite track: Spectral Eyes.

They will wake to the sound of shattering glass in the crux before dawn and will not have dreamt it How could they know what the night will hold? They've slept through that dark and they will again Nurturing dreams for the covetous While we could not sleep at all All of us helpless will have to find in each other distraction and tempering lest we now fail as they failed But I don't foresee that because you've strength in you carelessly misused and blindly, tragically misplaced and though your eyes drifted they have not lost sight of our fixture

Has there ever been trust between those on the precipice who steady themselves on the fortune of others? All of them secretly yearning to tempt instability and neglect or abandon the foothold beneath them Staring ever into that chasm Drawing nearer that beckoning closure Every head will hang erring and doubtful with a clawing remorse burrowing achingly toward the dim heart of our guilt We're responsible for the world we belong to all pity withheld We are answerable for the dusk we have walked through and our quiet contempt; hardly permissible Do not let their darkness become yours Conceive in your heart dissolution; its weight will diminish Your shining eyes piercing the absolute black lain before you Those shadows will howl desperation

Waxen Voices 10:50
You are changing because the measured world bared its teeth, unflinching and demanded it of you Because the air you breathe every hour feels thinner and you were terrified not to Because age and the mounting days stripped all courage from you You are fading as I will Every shade of darkness will fill our bodies and stay them Can we not be formless no instinct or enactment? Can we not be ageless only a stillness? Now that everything has become little more than a balancing act Now that everyone seems to want nothing more than to maintain their careful pacing We are vanishing into the loneliness of holding love back Dissimilar No longer familiar There is no clear path we long since lost that It is something to witness all dissenting voices falter with time Forever resigning

Hoping that a slow death will wait for those shielding their pale eyes from injury Who would sacrifice limbs for a shallow breath hands trembling I have seen you with confidence lower your head with a purpose and surety but I knew you were elsewhere pensively building a tomb for those you love Your frail heart is wavering Your exits narrowing For what are you waiting? Belief alone cannot sustain us Believe in no coming shore for we'll cross this sea and the sea then beside it Navigate leagues of clamorous waters and lightning Smoke hovering so low it becomes us; we've all been betrayed Believe in no nearing shore No vessel could weather these sprawling expanses Fire so black even the night has affirmed it We've all been betrayed We have all been betrayed Sight it was taken Eyes they were left now to gaze; gaze upon darkness enveloping Vaguely perceiving oblique shapes in drift and the silent conversing of all wandering ghosts Still your hands; they are trembling Your weakening clutch is now forfeit; forfeit to violence It seems they'll forever be cursed to remain empty yet grasping Nothing to hold Nothing is held
